Maryland Children's Health Program (MCHP)
The Maryland Children's Health Program unit in the local health departments provide expedited eligibility determinations for pregnant women and children within 10 days of receipt of a
MCHP application. Staff also provides education regarding benefits, HealthChoice enrollment process, and Managed Care Organization selection process. Referrals are provided for WIC,
Administrative Care Coordination Unit, Healthy Start, and other health services.

Healthy Start
A major focus of this program is a home based community health nursing service to provide health education, social support, and referrals to other identified resources. The program operates in conjunction with private providers to coordinate care for pregnant women and their children. Eligibility: Pregnant female, child under the age of 2 and/or in need of community health nursing services.
