Just Walk Event
This is a FREE event is co-sponsored by the Worcester County Health Department and the town of Berlin Parks Commission.   The first 50 participants will receive a free Just Walk step counter. . Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the 1 mile fun walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.  The health department will be available to register participants for the Just Walk program and will provide free body composition testing, diabetes prevention information, and Quit Smoking Kits.  
 
 Just Walk is a free, self-directed, self-reported, incentive-based physical activity program that rewards participants for mileage of physical activity accumulated.  Participants can earn a sweatshirt, t-shirt, water bottle, and more.
 
Pre- registration for Just Walk Berlin is encouraged and participants can register by calling 410-632-0056.

BALTIMORE, MD (October 9, 2012) - Seasonal influenza has officially arrived in Maryland, with a confirmed case, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) announced today. The first laboratory-confirmed cases of seasonal influenza have been diagnosed in an adult on the Eastern Shore. The individual was hospitalized but has been released. The flu strain was A (H3). This year's influenza formation includes the A (H3N2) strain. Last season, the first confirmed case of influenza was reported on October 3, 2013.

 Baltimore, MD (October 1, 2014) – Influenza season has begun. Though no influenza cases have been confirmed yet in Maryland, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) reminds all Maryland residents that now is the time to get vaccinated against the flu.

BALTIMORE (September 25, 2014) – The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) announces today that Maryland was awarded a grant of $3.5 million to target diabetes and heart disease prevention activities in five communities—Baltimore City; Washington, Allegany/Garrett; Caroline/Dorchester; and Somerset/Wicomico/Worcester counties.
