Vaccine safety Update:
The CDC announced on 12/15/09 that certain lots of thepediatric H1N1 vaccine manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur
was being recalled. This is a non-safety-related voluntary
recall of certain lots of the vaccine. The Worcester County
Health Department did not receive any shipment of the
recalled lots of vaccine. This vaccine was recalled due to
non-safety related concerns regarding low potency. For
more information about the recall, please go to:
http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/syringes_qa.htm
Recall of certain lots of FluMist
The voluntary recall of 13 lots of unused MedImmune
2009 (H1N1) nasal spray vaccine, announced 12/23/09
by the CDC, minimally affects the Worcester County
Health Department. The identified lots may now or
might soon be below the specified potency level.
There is no need to get revaccinated if you received
vaccine from these lots. Doses of the MedImmune nasal
spray were used by the Worcester Co. Health Department
prior to November 5th, while they were fully potent.
Additionally, twenty doses that are currently on hand
have been removed from use and will be returned to the
company per their request. People who received vaccine
from the recalled lots do not need to take any action.
If you have further questions about this recall, please go
to the CDC Flu website at www.flu.gov or call the
Worcester County Health Department at 410-632-1100
option 7.
