Baltimore, MD (December 17, 2014) – The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) has submitted a report by the Safety Standards workgroup to the General Assembly. The workgroup was tasked with studying appropriate national safety standards for mixing, reconstituting and performing similar, routine acts by or under the supervision of an oncologist, rheumatologist or hematologist in an outpatient setting.

Baltimore, MD (December 12, 2014) –The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) today released a report showing that unexpected deaths of children in Maryland decreased from 302 in 2007 to 171 in 2013, a decline of 43%.  Had the numbers of unexpected deaths remained at the 2007 level, more than 600 additional children would have died during this period.

ANNAPOLIS, MD (December 10, 2014) -- The UnitedHealth Foundation today released “America’s Health Rankings 2014,” which found that Maryland had the greatest improvement of any state this year.  Maryland improved eight spots from 24th last year to 16th in 2014.  Key areas of improvement cited in the report include increased immunization rates and reductions in rates of preventable hospitalizations, smoking, and binge drinking.
