EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS NIGHT AT THE SHOREBIRDS “BE A FORCE OF NATURE, BE READY.” PDF Print E-mail
Salisbury, MD. – Dorchester, Somerset, Sussex, Wicomico and Worcester counties invite the public to Emergency Preparedness Night on August 23rd at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

The Delmarva Shorebirds will play against the Asheville Tourists at 7:05 p.m. Representatives from local health departments, emergency management agencies, and volunteer organizations will host exhibit booths promoting emergency preparedness before and during the baseball game.  

Come out to the ballpark to support the Shorebirds and learn how you can be better prepared for life’s curve balls.

The event is co-sponsored by the health departments and emergency management offices of Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties, Ocean City and the Maryland and Delaware Offices of Emergency Management.

Worcester County invites the public to celebrate 20 years and 20 million steps taken with the Just Walk Worcester Program on Walk Maryland Day October 4, 2017.
 
The celebration is free and open to the public beginning begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Worcester County Recreation Facility, 6030 Public Landing Rd., Snow Hill, Md. 21863. The event will feature refreshments, guest speakers, and a fun walk.

Out of the Darkness Walk Returns to Ocean City this September
New Celebration of Life Event added to night before the walk
 
Ocean City, MD – Take the first step towards saving lives this September at Out of the Darkness on the Boardwalk in Ocean City. On September 23, hundreds of walkers from across Maryland and beyond, will gather in Ocean City to memorialize the victims of suicide, offer support to friends and family, and to raise funds for suicide awareness and mental health first aid through the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This year, the Worcester County Health Department (WCHD) will also host a new “Celebration of Life” event the night before the walk, to memorialize friends and family lost to suicide.

Worcester Health: New funding is available for community tobacco cessation projects
 
Snow Hill, MD-The Worcester County Health Department (WCHD) requests smoking cessation and education proposals from county entities. Community-based organizations, churches, private entities, non-profits, and workplaces are encouraged to apply. The Cigarette Restitution Fund, by way of WCHD and Maryland Department of Health, will provide grant funding for approved projects.
