ChopChop Maryland Presents Purple Slaw PDF Print E-mail
 BALTIMORE (January 20, 2012) - In honor of the Ravens upcoming appearance in the AFC Championship game Sunday, ChopChop Maryland has released a special edition game day recipe for Purple Slaw. Purple Slaw is a healthy cole slaw recipe featuring red cabbage, onions and carrots.  Each serving contains just 111 calories and is a good source of dietary fiber and vitamins A and C.

ChopChop Maryland, launched by First Lady Katie O'Malley in October, promotes healthy eating with monthly family-friendly recipes that feature local, seasonal and nutritional ingredients. The program, a partnership with ChopChop Magazine, released this special edition game day recipe to help Marylanders cheer on the Ravens. 

"It's great that we are able to partner with ChopChop Magazine to encourage Maryland families to enjoy Purple Slaw in honor of our Baltimore Ravens," said First Lady Katie O'Malley. "Fans of all ages can eat healthy as we celebrate a Ravens' win on Sunday." 

"I'm looking forward to enjoying Purple Slaw with my family while watching the Ravens' victory," said Dr. Joshua M. Sharfstein, Secretary of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. "I bet New England fans secretly wish they could have some."

 BALTIMORE, MD (February 15, 2012) –This tax season, Marylanders can join the cancer fight with a quick checkmark when completing their state income tax form, according to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH). The Maryland income tax form provides state residents the opportunity to donate to the Maryland Cancer Fund which in turn supports cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment programs.
