11th Annual Worcester County Alcohol Licensee Recognition Breakfast PDF Print E-mail

Worcester County will recognize 74 alcohol retailers at the 11th annual Worcester County Alcohol Licensee Recognition Breakfast at Lighthouse Sound restaurant in Bishopville on February 16.

The Worcester County Health Department, through funding provided by Maryland Department of Transportation and Maryland Highway Safety Office, is pleased to acknowledge alcohol licensees which had employees who refused to sell alcohol to underage law enforcement cadets in 2011.

Douglas “Buxy” Buxbaum, chairman of the Worcester County Licensed Beverage Association and owner of Buxy’s Salty Dog Saloon in Ocean City, will be the keynote speaker.

This breakfast event provides an occasion to recognize partners in the community who, through their responsible alcohol management, contribute to underage drinking prevention, as well as, impaired driving prevention. Residents and visitors to Worcester County benefit by reduced exposure to risky alcohol-influenced behaviors when business owners care about their community and take measures to assure alcohol is served in a conscientious manner.

A total of 74 alcohol licensees had servers who took the time to ask for an acceptable identification in 2011. The servers reviewed the identification to assure it was authentic and valid. The servers recognized that the individuals attempting to buy alcohol were not at least 21, and as a result, did not sell alcohol to the underage cadets.

The honorees attending the recognition breakfast are awarded a certificate that may be displayed in their business. The complete list of honored licensees is available by clicking HERE.
