The Community Health Program consists of Registered Nurses who provide a wide range of nursing services in a variety of settings to Worcester County residents of all ages. Community Health Nurses assess, support, educate, and encourage individuals to be independent in meeting their care needs within a self-care framework. Care also focuses on disease prevention, treatment referrals, and education on personal and family emergency preparedness. The goal of nursing services is to work with individuals and families to achieve an optimal level of well being.

Baltimore, MD (May 21, 2015) – With summer’s start within view, the Secretaries of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH), Environment (MDE), and Natural Resources (DNR) are reminding Marylanders to be safe when swimming because of the risks that water-related activities can bring.

BALTIMORE  (May 20, 2015) – As the summer season approaches and people and their pets begin enjoying more time outdoors, the risk of tick-borne disease transmission is at its peak. In recognition of this, Governor Larry Hogan has proclaimed May as Tick-borne Disease Awareness Month. The Maryland Departments of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) and Agriculture (MDA) join the Governor to remind Marylanders to enjoy the outdoors, but to keep ticks off.

Fentanyl-related deaths more than tripled in a year; heroin-related deaths doubled since 2010
 
BALTIMORE – (May 19, 2015) – The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) today released the 2014 Drug- and Alcohol-Related Intoxication Deaths in Maryland Report. The report found that there was a 21 percent increase in the number of deaths in 2014 compared with 2013’s data.
