The Community Health Program consists of Registered Nurses who provide a wide range of nursing services in a variety of settings to Worcester County residents of all ages. Community Health Nurses assess, support, educate, and encourage individuals to be independent in meeting their care needs within a self-care framework. Care also focuses on disease prevention, treatment referrals, and education on personal and family emergency preparedness. The goal of nursing services is to work with individuals and families to achieve an optimal level of well being.

Baltimore, MD (January 16, 2015) – Of all cancers that affect women, cervical cancer is one of the most preventable. The human papillomavirus (HPV) causes cervical cancer and other cancers. For Cervical Health Awareness Month, Maryland is recommending that women get Pap tests and that preteens get HPV vaccinations.

The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene reminds residents that there are many serious health issues to consider during cold winter weather. As a result of exposure to cold, individuals may experience low body temperature, which may lead to hypothermia and even death. Freezing of exposed skin and tissues, such as the ears, nose, feet and face, may lead to frostbite, frostnip and trench foot.
