Worcester County Safe Station Implements Warmline

If you (or someone you know) are seeking support related to the use of a substance, you DO NOT need to leave home to get help. Our Safe Station Program within the Worcester County Health Department implemented a warmline which is intended to act as phone support for individuals struggling and need a person to listen. While options are reduced, sometimes it helps to just have someone on the other end who has been there. We will do our best to link you with services once they return to the new normal. Worcester County Health Department confirms first case of COVID-19 in Worcester County

The Worcester County Health Department (WCHD) confirmed the first positive test for a case of COVID-19 in Worcester County on March 19, 2020. The patient is a male in his 30s who lives in Worcester County and is recovering at home.

2020 Go Red for Women's Heart Health

Physical activity of any form is one of the best ways to improve heart health. In 2020, public and private health agencies across the Lower Eastern Shore are encouraging women to Get Pumped about their heart health and to learn more about how exercise, as well as healthy eating, contributes to preventing heart disease.  

The Tri-County region will Go Red for Women’s Heart Health again this January with a free kick-off in Worcester County. The event will take place from 5-7 p.m., January 31, at the Worcester Technical High School, 6290 Worcester Hwy, Newark, MD. Learn about heart health with interactive presentations including physical activity, heart-healthy cooking demonstration, and heart disease prevention 101. Light refreshments, including a smoothie bar, will be offered.

Worcester Health Offers Free Smoking Cessation Classes Starting In January

Snow Hill, MD- Temperatures are dropping and it is a season for fresh starts. The Worcester County Health Department’s free winter smoking cessation classes begin in January. Worcester Health is committed to helping smokers establish new behavior patterns that lead to a tobacco free lifestyle. With the smoking cessation class, Chantix, gum, patch, lozenges and other aids to help individuals quit tobacco are available through a voucher program for individuals meeting specific requirements.
